About this product
A beloved staple of Bihar and Jharkhand, sattu is made from roasted Bengal gram, traditionally stirred into a cooling drink to beat the peak summer heat while keeping energy up through the day. A great source of protein for growing children. Flavour — deeply nutty and roasted, with a fine, smooth texture.
In the kitchen
- Texture — fine, light brown powder with a roasted aroma.
- Mix with cold water, a pinch of salt, roasted cumin and a dash of lemon for a sattu drink. It can also be kneaded with water and spices to stuff parathas, as in traditional litti-chokha.
- Ideal for sattu drink, litti-chokha, stuffed parathas, and energy bars or laddoos.
- Naturally gluten-free grain. Prepared in a facility that also processes grains containing gluten.
