The flour
A beloved staple of Bihar and Jharkhand, Sattu is made from roasted Bengal gram, traditionally stirred into a cooling drink to beat the peak summer heat while keeping energy levels up through the day. A great source of protein for growing children.

Usage guide
Texture – Fine, light brown powder with a roasted aroma.
Usage instructions – Mix with cold water, a pinch of salt, roasted cumin, and a dash of lemon for a refreshing sattu drink. It can also be kneaded with water and spices to stuff parathas, as in the traditional litti-chokha.
Ideal uses – Sattu drink, litti-chokha, stuffed parathas, and energy bars or laddoos.
